Rising of the Moon
This starts out what we call the "Rising Trio" - Rising, Bold Fenian Men, Foggy Dew. It's kind of cool that we decided on this order for the songs, and then realized after doing research that they're in historical order!! This uprising celebrates the 1789 rebellion; "Bold" is about the 1860's Fenian uprising, and "Foggy" is about the rebellion of 1916, eventually leading to an independent Ireland.

So then, tell me Sean O'Farrell, tell me why you hurry so?
Hush a bhuachaill, hush and listen, and his cheeks were all aglow,
I bear orders from the captain, get you ready quick and soon,
For the pikes must be together, at the rising of the moon

At the rising of the moon, at the rising of the moon
For the pikes must be together at the rising of the moon

So then, tell me Sean O'Farrell, where the gatherin' is to be
At the old spot by the river, quite well known to you and me
One word more for  signal token, whistle up the marching tune
With a pike upon your shoulder by the rising of the moon

By the rising of the moon, by the rising of the moon
With a pike upon your shoulder by the rising of the moon

Out from many a mud wall cabin, eyes were watching through the night

Many a manly heart was throbbing, for the blessed warning light
Murmurs passed along the valleys, like the banshee's lonely croon
And a thousand pikes were flashing at the rising of the moon

At the rising of the moon, at the rising of the moon
And a  thousand pikes were flashing at the rising of the moon

There beside the singing river, that dark  mass of men were seen
Far above their shining weapons, hung their own beloved green
Death to every foe and traitor! Forward, strike the marching tune
And hurrah! me boys for freedom, 'tis the rising of the moon

'Tis the rising of the moon, 'tis the rising of the moon
And Hurrah! me boys for freedom, 'tis the rising of the moon

Well, they fought for dear old Ireland, and full bitter was their fate
O, what glorious pride and sorrow fills the name of ninety-eight!
Yet, thank God, e'en still are beating hearts in manhood's burning noon
Who would follow in their footsteps at the rising of the moon

At the rising of the moon, at the rising of the moon,
Who would follow in their footsteps at the rising of the moon

At the rising of the moon, at the rising of the moon,
Who would follow in their footsteps at the rising of the moon
